Pen Bay Healthcare wants to make sure it provides the most up to date information about seasonal flu and H1N1 (swine) flu. Below, find links to the most up-to-date information from the Maine and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The 2010-2011 vaccine includes protection against H1N1 as well as two other typical seasonal flu strains.  Click for a list of flu shot clinics.

Each year in the U.S., 30,000 to 40,000 deaths are attributed to influenza.

Getting vaccinated against influenza is some of the best medical care you can give.

Protect friends and family by getting vaccinated. Especially if you are in contact with elderly, very young, or chronically ill friends and relatives, your receipt of vaccine can lower their risk of exposure to flu. Many individuals in these high risk groups may not respond well to vaccine, making vaccination of those around them key.

Protect yourself with by getting vaccinated. New this year, the Federal CDC is recommending that flu vaccine, assuming adequate supplies, be offered all Americans over the age of six months, regardless of health status or occupation. This is based on ever-growing body of literature showing that seasonal flu vaccines are safe and effective.

By getting a flu shot, you stand a good chance of sparing yourself illness and days out of work. In communities where flu vaccination rates are very high, we can significantly reduce the impact of influenza.
