Especially if you are in contact with elderly, very young, or chronically ill friends and relatives, your receipt of vaccine can lower their risk of exposure to flu. New this year, the Federal CDC is recommending that flu vaccine, assuming adequate supplies, be offered all Americans over the age of six months, regardless of health status or occupation. This is based on ever-growing body of literature showing that seasonal flu vaccines are safe and effective.
By getting a flu shot, you stand a good chance of sparing yourself illness and days out of work. In communities where flu vaccination rates are very high, we can significantly reduce the impact of influenza.
