The Mid-Coast Speech and Hearing Center (MCSHC) is dedicated to serving the communication needs and addressing swallowing disorders in our community, from newborns to senior citizens. We are a department of Penobscot Bay Medical Center, providing Audiology and Speech Pathology services.

Our attractive new facility is located in the Ledgewood Professional Park on the Mid-Coast Speech and Hearing building east side of Route 1 in Rockport, just one mile north of PBMC. We enjoy a comfortable, cheery atmosphere, which enhances communication
for families.

We offer a team approach to audiology, communication and swallowing services. Rockport. Our program is staffed by speech pathologists and an audiologist, who are certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association.

Speech Pathology and Audiology services are available on the acute care level at Penobscot Bay Medical Center; for outpatients at PBMC and at the Knox Center for Long-Term Care and Quarry Hill.

Helen Kosmo, a Speech-Language Pathologist and Mid-Coast Speech and Hearing Manager, would be happy to respond to questions. Please call her at (207) 230-6380.

Our Philosophy

At MCSHC, we believe that the family is the key ingredient to successful intervention, whether for children with developmental delays, or adults recovering from a brain injury or dealing with a loss of hearing.

We provide family-focused evaluations and therapy. For children, this means that parents attend the sessions with their children. A spouse, close friends or other caregivers may accompany adults. By playing an active role in the evaluation and therapy sessions, family members gain a better understanding of the communication needs of their loved one.

Visit our offices at 590 Commercial Street (Route 1) in Rockport. Call us at 230-6380.
