Diabetes and Nutrition Care Classes
Here are the dates and times of the next series of diabetes education classes, for spring 2009.
You are welcome to bring a guest with you to help you learn about diabetes self-management. These classes are held at the Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice building, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland.

The Pen Bay Healthcare Diabetes & Nutrition Care Center is offering springtime classes with a focus on weight loss and nutrition a class for those concerned about their high risk of developing diabetes. There are two classes: Jump Start for Weight Loss and Turn Back the Clock on Diabetes.
In the Turn Back the Clock sessions, the diabetes and Nutrition Care Center offers strategies on preventing or delaying diabetes while improving health. This class was created for people diagnosed with pre-diabetes or impaired fasting blood sugar, or those at high risk for developing diabetes. Participants will learn about dietary strategies, the connection between health and exercise, what lab tests mean and more.
Turn Back the Clock meets (in two identical sessions) Monday, Feb. 9 from 3 to 4:15 p.m. and Monday, March 30, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Diabetes & Nutrition Care Center in the Kno-Wal-Lin building, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland. Cost is $10 per session. Pre-registration is required. Call 596-8537 to sign up.
In the Jump Start for Weight Loss classes, registered dietitian Eileen Molloy will teach four one-hour sessions, which will combine information about weight loss and nutrition, along with tools and strategies to provide motivation for weight loss. This is accurate advice from a nutrition professional.
Jump Start for Weight Loss meets Tuesdays in late March and early April, from 6 to 7 p.m. The dates are March 24 and 31 and April 7 and 14. Meetings take place at the Diabetes & Nutrition Care Center, located in the Kno-Wal-Lin building, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland. Registration is required. Call 596-8537. Cost is $40.
Follow-up classes: We will schedule a follow-up class at three-months after you complete the diabetes education program. Most people will also have one individual appointment after the classes end.
