Julie Hurley Joins Pen Bay Family Medicine
Rockland native Julie Hedrich Hurley has returned to the Midcoast as a family practice physician at Pen Bay Family Medicine.
Hurley is a graduate of Rockland District High School and the University of Maine in Orono, where she studied biology and chemistry and graduated magna cum laude. Before attending medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, she worked as a researcher at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and at Gentest Corporation in Woburn, Mass.
Before joining Pen Bay Family Medicine, Hurley was a primary care physician at Belgrade Regional Health Center.
"The allure of family practice has always been the opportunity it provides to establish lasting relationships with patients and their families," said Hurley. "As a family practice physician I also knew that I would acquire the breadth of knowledge necessary to help support and treat the entire person."
Hurley said she chose to join Pen Bay Family Medicine, a member of the Pen Bay Healthcare family of services because, said said, "Pen Bay is a stable, forward-thinking family-oriented healthcare provider" and because she wants to be closer to family.
In her spare time, Hurley enjoys alpine skiing, hiking, golfing, kayaking and reading. She and her husband Ryan live in Mt. Vernon but hope to move closer to the coast soon.
