Pirates Invade Quarry Hill Lobster Bake
Quarry Hill is pleased to report that no one was forced to walk the plank when a band of “pirates” invaded the community’s summer lobster bake on August 16.
In fact, a jolly good time was had by all. While residents and others downed a ship’s hold–full of lobster, side dishes, and desserts, the jovial Pirates of the Dark Rose went table to table, delighting diners with tales of conquest and occasionally spearing unguarded morsels of seafood. “Sid Viskus” (far right) devoted himself to terrorizing Shirley Achterhof (seated, right), while Captain “Sassy Sally” and “The Disgraced Marquis de Rainville” threatened to kidnap a less-than-frightened Horatio Cowan (seated, left).
Guitarist and singer Alison Lee Freeman entertained the crowd with a blend of sea chanteys and folk songs.
The annual summer’s-end lobster bake is reserved for Quarry Hill residents and prospective residents who have joined the community’s Priority List. In addition to fresh-off-the-boat lobster and a seafood bar overflowing with shrimp, salmon and oysters on the halfshell, attendees enjoyed lobster rolls, steak, corn-on-the-cob, salad and blueberry crisp.
