John Bagnulo on From Seed to Supper at Penobscot Bay YMCA
Fourth Talk in Series

Please join us on Tuesday, March 19 from 6:30–8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Penobscot Bay YMCA, Rockport, to hear John Bagnulo, Ph.D. speak on “From Seed to Supper.” This program is co-sponsored by Pen Bay Healthcare’s Picker Family Resource Center and the YMCA in service to improving the health and quality of life of our community. There is no need to RSVP.
The fourth talk in this series, John Bagnulo will speak on whole foods and a plant-based diet to illustrate the importance of food sourcing. Topics discussed range from the difference in the nutritional value of foods raised in specific ways to those additives that are the greatest health hazards to us and our children. Bagnulo will identify those foods that you absolutely have to find sustainably grown as well as those cooking methods that are the safest to use on a daily basis. The talk is sure to enlighten even the most well read in the area of nutrition.
Bagnulo earned a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina and a PhD. in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Maine. He lectures and teaches programs nationally in the area of nutrition and disease prevention/reversal. He recommends that individuals look more closely at the volume of flour and cereal products they are eating, how these foods may be displacing what is nutritionally most important or how the foods respond metabolically to the various sources of sugar in their diet, and what foods are actually providing significant nutrients to their body.
Pen Bay Healthcare's Picker Center promotes building community by providing health resources and support that serve the needs of women and their families throughout their lives. The Center’s hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
