Pen Bay Healthcare Announces New Chief Medical Officer
Pen Bay Healthcare announces the selection of David T. Bachman, MD, as its new Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Bachman comes to Pen Bay with nearly 30 years of clinical and physician leadership experience. He is board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Medicine and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Bachman has spent the last several years working clinically as an emergency medicine physician at Central Maine Medical Center and administratively as Senior Medical Director for Transitions of Care at MaineHealth. His administrative work has been focused on bridging the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, with a particular emphasis on effective discharge processes, preventable readmissions and emergency care. During his career, Bachman has also served as a Vice President of Medical Affairs at Mercy Health System and has held numerous academic appointments. Bachman received his undergraduate education from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School.
Bachman looks forward to continuing his career in healthcare and emphasizes his passion for quality and working with people. “I am honored to have this opportunity to join the Pen Bay Healthcare system,” he says. “I look forward to working with the hospital and physician leadership in doing all that we can to improve the already high quality care provided to the Pen Bay community."
Dr. Bachman will begin transitioning to his new position as Chief Medical Officer on a limited basis beginning in July, and will fully transition to Pen Bay by October 1, 2012.
