Click for H1N1 (swine) flu information (new window) Pen Bay Healthcare Hosts Meeting to Discuss Possible Transition to MaineHealth The Pen Bay Healthcare Board of Trustees invites the public to attend a special information session on Tuesday, July 21, at 5 p.m. at the Camden Public Library. The primary purpose of this presentation is to make our community aware that Pen Bay Healthcare, which includes Penobscot Bay Medical Center, is assessing the possibility of becoming a full member in MaineHealth, and to solicit feedback from the community. The Pen Bay Healthcare Board and PBMC medical staff leadership voted unanimously in January to begin this formal assessment process. Read more now. PBMC Childcare Center Teachers Earn Child Development Credentials The Penobscot Bay Medical Center Creative Learning and Childcare Center is pleased to announce that four teachers at the center have earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in recognition of outstanding work with young children. Read more now. Lee Silverman Voice Treatment for Parkinson's Patients Many Parkinson's Disease patients develop speech and voice problems early in the course of their disease. These disorders, along with reduced facial expression, can inhibit PD patients' ability to communicate with friends and family and seriously affect their quality of life. It is estimated that between 85 and 90 percent of individuals with Parkinson's Disease develop voice and speech disorders during the course of their illness. Read more now. PBMC Cancer Care Program Approved by the American College of Surgeons The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted three-year approval with commendation to the Cancer Care program at Penobscot Bay Medical Center. Read more now. PBMC Celebrates Marie Hall's 40th Year in Nutritional Services In 1969, Marie Hall joined the staff of the Knox County General Hospital. In 1975, she made the move to the new Penobscot Bay Medical Center. On March 26, the Nutritional Services staff celebrated her 40th year with the local healthcare system. Read more now.
PBMC Physician named to regional EMS post Dr. Colin Coor, a physician who works in the emergency department at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, has been appointed Regional Medical Director for the Maine Emergency Medical Services for Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties. Read more now.
PBMC Departments Move to New Locations Penobscot Bay Medical Center would like to inform the public about the relocation of three hospital departments. PBMC Maintains Preferred Status Penobscot Bay Medical Center is a preferred hospital, maintaining its Tier 1 status from the Maine State Employee Health Commission. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Recognizes Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Second Annual "Honor Roll" Penobscot Bay Medical Center has been named to the 2008 Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Hospital Honor Roll. The Honor Roll highlights acute care hospitals whose performance was among the top 25 percent of those evaluated nationally according to a set of quality and patient experience measures.
