Founded by the Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation in 1993, The  Legacy Society is composed of individuals and couples who are committed to leaving a planned gift to benefit one of the partner organizations of Pen Bay Healthcare: Penobscot Bay Medical Center, The Knox Center for Long-term Care, Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care and Hospice, Mid-Coast Mental Health Center and the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill.

Pen Bay Healthcare Legacy Society members have taken action to leave their legacies using one or more charitable estate planning options available, such as:

• A Bequest which names Pen Bay Healthcare or one of its organizational partners as the beneficiary of a Will.
• A Charitable Trust, naming Pen Bay Healthcare or one of its organizational partners as one of the beneficiaries.
• A Gift Annuity with Pen Bay Healthcare, which pays a lifetime income to a donor or donors in exchange for a minimum contribution of $10,000.
• A gift of real estate, or collectibles such as coins, antiques, art or other valuable resources, made to benefit the mission of Pen Bay Healthcare and its partner organizations.
• A gift of an IRA or other retirement plan, naming Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation as a beneficiary.
