Community Health

The goal at Pen Bay Healthcare is to provide the best healthcare to all individuals residing in Knox, Waldo, and Lincoln counties.

Beyond the acute care services offered at the medical center and skilled nursing facilities, Community Health will achieve this by linking residents to healthcare resources that will help them to live healthier lives and, ultimately, improve the community as a whole.

Community Health programs can reach out to those with chronic medical conditions who need educational services to help them remain active in their communities. Programs also can reach out to those with no medical issues with the goal of helping them stay healthy. Classes and events are designed to support and empower each individual to identify key health issues and put into practice those activities that will result in a healthier lifestyle.

2010 Community Health Needs Assessment
OneMaine Health, a collaboration between Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, MaineGeneral Health and MaineHealth released Maine's first comprehensive, statewide community health needs assessment in April, 2011. The three health systems are working with Maine hospitals and Healthy Maine Partnerships to host local forums to share the information, begin discussions and develop action plans based on the report's findings.  Click here to read the entire report from the MaineHealth website.
