"In this highly competitive environment, recruiting these new primary care doctors to help meet the needs of the PBMC service area speaks highly of the reputation of our medical staff and our beautiful community."

Dr. Jeffrey Landfair is a second-generation physician from Pittsburgh, Pa. Following in his father's footsteps, Dr. Landfair values the role primary care physicians play in developing long-term relationships with patients as they help with their medical care.

A graduate of Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Landfair completed his residency at MaineMedical Center in Portland and was familiar with the Midcoast, and Penobscot Bay Medical Center, from visits to the region during his training.

He says he was drawn to PBMC because of its size, location and the hospital's "excellent medical staff and good work environment."

His medical interests include preventative and sports medicine and developing group and individual education programs for patients. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the AmericanAcademy of Family Physicians and the Maine Academy of Family Physicians.

He and his wife and young daughter, their dog and their cat, live in Rockport. His interests include skiing, sea kayaking, hiking and photography.

Dr. Ted Wissink chose medicine for his career because he wanted to be in a profession where he would be "constantly learning as well as connecting with other people."

A native of Minnesota and a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Dr. Wissink completed his residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was also one of six fellows in the U.S. studying integrative family medicine through a Maine-based program under the aegis of Andrew Weil's Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.

His experience also includes volunteer work with the San Lucas Health Project in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala, where he organized mobile health clinics in rural areas and worked on a prenatal nutrition program for underserved Mayan communities.

His training includes traditional family medicine as well as osteopathic manipulation and acupuncture.

He chose Maine for his residency because his wife grew up here and the couple wanted to raise their growing family here. The couple has a two-year-old daughter and another child due in September. The Wissinks live in Rockport.

Dr. Wissink's interests include hiking, camping, skiing, mountain biking and ultimate Frisbee.

Dr. Michael Kumin is a Maine native who was inspired to go into medicine by the care his family received from a primary care physician when he was growing up in the Southern Maine town of Eliot.

Dr. Kumin chose Penobscot Bay Medical Center for his primary care practice because of the hospital's staff and location.

He is a graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and attended medical school at the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at MaineMedical Center in Portland. "Having been raised in Maine and gone to school in other states, I realized Maine is the best place for me," he said.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Maine Medical Association and the American Association of Primary Care Endoscopy.

His goal is to build successful and therapeutic relationships with both patients and staff. His interests include skiing, golfing, hiking and watching Red Sox baseball. Dr. Kumin and his wife life in Camden with their new puppy.
