KWL Honors Volunteers;
Claire Coffey of Owls Head named Maine Volunteer of the Year

The Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice Volunteer Auxiliaries met for their annual lunch recently at the Trade Winds in Rockland. Present were volunteers from Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties along with Kno-Wal-Lin employees.

Joy Chamberlin, volunteer coordinator for Kno-Wal-Lin, welcomed those present by reviewing their accomplishments during the past year. Aside from raising funds to benefit Kno-Wal-Lin's home care and hospice patients, and scholarships for KWL employees, the auxiliaries also provide homemade items such as rice bags, neck pillows, walker aprons, lap robes and special request items.

And, of course, the luncheon itself was a big thank-you to all the volunteers for the hours they give to support the work of Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice.

KWL Executive Director Donna DeBlois was on hand to talk about the awards won by individuals, including KWL's Claire Coffey, who has been named Home Care Volunteer of the Year by the Maine Home Care and Hospice Alliance. Coffey, of Owls Head, works for Kno-Wal-Lin as both the treasurer of Knox/Waldo auxiliary board and is also is also a Visiting Volunteer, helping homebound patients and their caregivers.
