Clinics for Seasonal Flu Vaccinations to Start Early
Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice has scheduled a series of seasonal flu vaccination clinics at KWL offices in Knox, Lincoln and Waldo counties. These clinics are open to all adults. Kno-Wal-Lin will be able to accept Medicare cards at this clinic but no other insurances can be processed. The fee for the seasonal flu vaccination is $30. Rockland: 170 Pleasant St., Friday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Belfast: 147 Waldo Ave., Suite 106, Tuesday, Sept. 22, 9 a.m. to noon. Newcastle: 605 Route 1, Suite 2, Monday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m. to noon.
More clinics will be scheduled and publicized. Kno-Wal-Lin will again hold its free clinic at the Pen Bay Community Health & Safety Fair Nov. 7 at Rockland District High School. For more information about the fair, visit pbmc.org/healthfair
Expectations are that this flu season will see two different strains of flu, both seasonal and H1N1. Because it is expected that the H1N1 vaccine will not be ready for distribution until the latter part of October, Kno-Wal-Lin is attempting to schedule as many clinics as possible for the seasonal flu vaccine before then.
For more information about the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu, please call the Maine CDC Flu Hotline at 1-888-257-0990 on Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Penobscot Bay Medical Center website, at pbmc.org/flu, links through to Maine and federal CDC webpages for additional information.
