Quarry Hill Event to Reveal Artistic Wit
and Wisdom of "Grandma Moses"
Quarry Hill will kick off its fall Adventures in Living Well series for adults age 55 and better with a lecture and slide presentation on "Grandma Moses: Everybody's Favorite Self-Taught Artist," on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the retirement community's Anderson Inn in Camden.
Presented by nationally known art historian, writer, and lecturer Stephen May, the program will shed fresh light on Grandma Moses's life and work. Moses, née Anna Mary Robertson Moses (1860–1961), became an American icon in her 70s, when she began painting scenes from her life as a farmer's wife.
Light refreshments will be served.
Following the September event, the fall Adventures series will continue with "Safe and Healthy at Home," cosponsored by Kennebec Pharmacy and Home Care and presented by Quarry Hill and Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice, on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Quarry Hill; "Barrymore!," a portrait of the stage legend by professional actor Richard Clark, on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Camden Public Library (cosponsored by the library); and "By a Maine River: A Year of Looking Closely," a narrated photography presentation by authors Tom and Lee Ann Szelog, on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Quarry Hill.
Adventures in Living Well programs are offered free of charge. Reservations for any or all of the events in the fall series may be made by calling Quarry Hill at 230-6114 or by email, qhinfo@penbayhealthcare.org.
