PBMC Announces Expanded Hours for Patient Tests
Penobscot Bay Medical Center wants to make sure patients can conveniently get the medical tests they need.
In response to patient requests, the hospital's Endoscopy Department will be open on two Saturday mornings, Sept. 19 and Oct. 17, for patients needing a colonoscopy or EGD (upper endoscopy).
Patients should schedule appointments for these tests through their primary care physicians or by calling the PBMC Endoscopists directly. They are: Dr. Neil Smith, gastroenterologist, 596-6599; General Surgeons Dr. Doug Cole, 594-8048; Dr. Robert Davies, 593-5733; Dr. Joel Lafleur, 593-5723 or Dr. Gordon Paine, 593-5737.
"We want to do what we can to ensure everyone in our community has access to care at PBMC," Carol Dodge, surgical services nurse manager. "These Saturday appointments are an effort to provide a level of added customer service for those who feel they are unable to schedule during the week -- people who, for whatever good reason, cannot take a day off from work."
If there is interest, additional Saturday hours may be scheduled, Dodge said.
