Leann Sebrey Named Clinical Nurse Manager

Leann Sebrey, RN, CPN, has been named clinical nurse manager at Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice. Sebrey will serve as both a staff and patient advocate; she also will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all of the accepted standards of care and the agency's policies and procedures.Kno-Wal-Lin: Leann Sebrey

Sebrey has been at Kno-Wal-Lin since 1996, beginning as a staff nurse. In addition to working with the nursing staff on case management and care coordination, Sebrey, a certified pediatric nurse, will continue to serve as case manager for acute pediatric cases across the KWL coverage area.

After graduating from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1983, Sebrey worked in hospital pediatric units, in emergency nursing, at SkyFlight Care in Pennsylvania and in the adult and pediatric trauma departments at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.

"We have seen an increase in the acuity of our patients' needs over time," said Sebrey. "In many cases, the best place to heal can be at home, and our nurses need to be prepared to meet the challenge of keeping these acutely ill patients in their homes."

"As clinical nurse manager, Leann brings not just her expertise in nursing, but also her dedication to providing the best care for all of our patients," said Donna DeBlois, KWL executive director. "We are very happy that she has decided to take on this expanded role at Kno-Wal-Lin."

Leann also brings to the midcoast community skills in American Sign Language. She teaches sign language to parents and their hearing infants along with educating the parents about home care and first aid. She also lectures nationally about signing with babies and is author of the soon-to-be published "The Parents' Guide To Baby Signs" (Gallaudet University Press).
