PBMC Oncology Social Worker to Moderate
Telephone Support Group
Ginny Vaitones, MSW, OSW-C, oncology social worker at Penobscot Bay Medical Center, will be moderating a support group for adults who have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin Lymphoma, any form of leukemia, Myleoma or Myelodyplastic syndrome.
This support group is free and open to the public. It runs Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m., from Oct. 20 to Nov. 24. This is a telephone support group. Anyone interested should call, toll-free, 1-866-795-9786 to register by Oct. 10.
The workshop is offered by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There is a limit of 10 participants.
"It can be challenging to find an appropriate support group in more rural communities or to take the time to attend. Our hope is that this telephone group will provide an opportunity for people to talk about issues of concern in a convenient, supportive environment," said Maureen Higgins, LCSW, patient services manager for Maine and New Hampshire for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
