Quarry Hill Celebrates Sixth Anniversary
Quarry Hill resident Dorothy Giustra takes a spin in one of two 1950s-era cars brought to the anniversary celebration by volunteers Rosey Gerry and David Smith.
An improvised outdoor soda shop designed to evoke the days of poodle skirts, convertibles, and bobby socks drew an enthusiastic crowd to Quarry Hill in Camden to celebrate the retirement community's sixth anniversary, June 7.
Camden crooner David Dodson served up a steady stream of '50 tunes as Quarry Hill residents and visitors downed hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and root beer floats. Many used the occasion to tour Quarry Hill's independent- and assisted-living residences or vie for raffle items including a hanging flower basket from Barley Joe Farm Greenhouses in Warren, Bay Chamber Concerts tickets, a basket full of Maine foods from State of Maine Cheese Company, and a gift certificate from Sherman's Books and Stationery in Camden.
