Seniors Invited to a Celebration of Health and Fitness
Adults age 55 and better are invited to attend a free, community-wide celebration of healthy food, fun, and fellowship on Wednesday, May 28, from 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m. at the Teen Center, 10 Knowlton St., Camden.
Planned in conjunction with National Senior Health and Fitness Day, the event is the result of a combined effort by Quarry Hill Retirement Community, the Penobscot Bay YMCA, Spectrum Generations (formerly Senior Spectrum), the Knox County Community Health Coalition, and the Teen Center.
The agenda will include information on healthy aging and offer an opportunity to preview Keep Moving, a unique program, offered at the Pen Bay YMCA in Rockport, that shows how to outsmart arthritis with exercise, diet, and safer pain relief. In addition, participants will receive an introduction to the Prescription Mail Back program, heralded as a safe way to dispose of unwanted medications.
A healthy lunch will be served, free of charge, on the Teen Center veranda. Materials on senior health, fitness, and safety, as well as information about relevant community services and programs will also be free for the taking.
Seating is limited. Those wishing to attend should register by calling the YMCA at 236-3375 by Friday, May 23. The Penobscot Bay YMCA will provide round-trip transportation from the Lincoln Street Center parking lot in Rockland to the Teen Center for the event; if you are interested in this service, please let the Y know when you register.
