Good food, good dancing and good friends – and great hats – accompanied by the Kentucky Derby on the big screen: that was the third annual Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation Shall We Dance? Gala Saturday night.
The event, with its signature emphasis on ballroom dancing, drew 275 people to the Owls Head Transportation Museum to raise money for the eICU (Electronic Intensive Care Unit) at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, scheduled to be in use in mid-June.
Live music was provided by the Tony Boffa Band. Expert dance demonstrations and a dance contest were provided by professional dance instructors Kathryn and Christian Clayton, U.S. Rising Star Ballroom Champions and owners of Swing & Sway Dancing in Rockland. Food was provided by Jeff Space, Executive Chef at PBMC, and John Roy, Executive Chef at Quarry Hill Retirement Community in Camden.
There was also a raffle and a live auction.
"The Gala has turned into an important annual community event, where friends and neighbors can get together for a delightful evening of dancing for the benefit of the local healthcare system," said Staci Coomer, Vice President of Development and Marketing & Communications at Pen Bay Healthcare. "We thank our tireless volunteers and many guests and sponsors who made the evening such a success."
