"Going Strong" Program Aims to Help Older Adults Avoid Falling

Adults age 55-plus can learn how to improve their balance and avoid injurious falls by attending “Balance and Falls,” a free educational program on Monday, March 25, from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden. The event, part of Quarry Hill’s “Going Strong” series on senior health topics, was originally scheduled for December 2012.

Specialists from Pen Bay Healthcare Rehabilitation Services will offer simple exercises as well as household strategies that can significantly reduce the likelihood of falling. The program takes its cue from recent Centers for Disease Control statistics that point to falls as the leading cause of injury and death among seniors.

Admission is free; seating is limited and registration is required. To sign up, call Quarry Hill at 230-6114 or email qhinfo@penbayhealthcare.org.
