Pulmonary Rehabilitation: A Lung Health Wellness Program at Pen Bay Medical Center

A pulmonary rehabilitation program participant works out during a recent physical activity training session at Pen Bay Medical Center.

Join Pen Bay Healthcare during Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week, March 10–16, to celebrate the benefits Pulmonary Rehabilitation can provide for patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an Outpatient Program for people who live and struggle with chronic lung disease. The principal goals of Pulmonary Rehabilitation are to control and alleviate symptoms of shortness of breath and to improve daily physical functioning for greater independence and quality of everyday life.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation provides important lung health education information as well as progressive endurance, stamina and strength training. The combination of lung health education and physical exercise training leads to improved daily functioning and quality of life for participants.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Pen Bay Medical Center is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). If you have or know of anyone who has breathing problems we may be able to help.

Please contact Pen Bay's Pulmonary Rehabilitation program about treatment options to control symptoms of shortness of breath and fatigue at 596-8880.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Pen Bay Healthcare is a collaborative and multidisciplinary program under the medical direction of Dr. Andrew Filderman and management of Janey Barthelette, BA, RRT, CPFT.
