Speech Therapist to Address Parkinson’s Support Group

Speech therapist Cheryl Cassidy of Pen Bay Speech & Hearing will discuss “Speech Treatment for Parkinson’s Disease” at the next meeting of the area’s Parkinson’s Support Group. The gathering will take place on Tuesday, March 5, from noon to 1:45 pm on the first floor of the Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden.

Cassidy will provide an introduction to Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT). To date, LSVT® is the only treatment proven effective for addressing the soft voice, mumbled speech and related difficulties common in those with Parkinson’s disease.

Support group meetings regularly take place on the first Tuesday of each month from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the Anderson Inn. Meetings are free and offer learning and fellowship to all those living with Parkinson’s disease as well as their loved ones and caregivers. Attendees are encouraged to bring bag lunches; Quarry Hill provides beverages and desserts.
