Palliative & Hospice Care

Pen Bay’s palliative care and hospice programs offer patients and their loved ones assistance with the medical, emotional, social and spiritual concerns for those who have a serious illness.

PALLIATIVE CARE & HOSPICE: WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Palliative Care

Palliative care focuses on providing relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both you and your family. Palliative care is provided by a team of doctors, nurses and other specialists who work together with your other doctors to provide an extra layer of support. It is appropriate at any age and at any stage in a serious illness and can be provided along with other treatment.

Hospice Care

When medical care cannot offer a cure, hospice provides care, comfort and support for persons with life-limiting conditions as well as their families. The hospice team works
to make the person comfortable and relieve their symptoms and pain for the entire length of their illness.
