The Dementia (Alzheimer's) Unit at the Knox Center  is a state-of-the-art environment that can accommodate up to 33 residents with special care needs.

When visiting our Alzheimer's Unit, we believe you will be impressed with the balance that has been achieved between safety and comfort. For example, this unit offers an outdoor enclosed veranda designed to allow residents to enjoy the outdoors during the spring and summer in a safe and supervised manner.

The Knox Center's Alzheimer's care unit combines state-of-the-art care with comfort and a sense of home. We also organize and coordinate a support group for mid-coast residents who have family members with Alzheimer's disease. 

Families are encouraged to participate in regular conferences with Knox Center staff and to take an active role in their family member's healthcare plan. Communication with families is constant and questions and concerns are always invited. As one resident's daughter says, "They're always there to answer my questions. They always get back to me, and it's action that counts."
