We like to think of the Knox Center as just another home in our vibrant mid-coast community. Children play in a park across the street; the Rockland Public Library is located  just around the corner; it's only a short walk to the ocean and family homes line the nearby streets.

What makes the Knox Center special is that it is a place of caring and compassion -- for the residents, their families and the caregivers themselves.

The Knox Center is home for up to 84 residents. It is compromised of three  units, each with its own special characteristics and services.

The Short-Term Rehabilitation Unit (SNF)  is designed to comfortably accommodate up to 18 patients. Typically, patients on this unit are receiving either therapies for orthopedic surgeries or nursing care for complex medical illnesses as they transition from hospital to home.

The Long-Term Chronic Care Unit, with room for up to 33 residents, is a comfortable home for cognitively alert people who, for whatever reason, are no longer able to safely care for themselves.

The Dementia (Alzheimer's) Unit
is a state-of-the-art environment that can accommodate up to 33 residents with special care needs. When visiting our Alzheimer's Unit, we believe you will be impressed with the balance that has been achieved between safety and comfort. For example, this unit offers an outdoor veranda designed to allow residents to enjoy the outdoors during the spring and summer in a safe and supervised manner.

The Knox Center also provides hospice and respite care which is available on all three units.
