Rep. Pingree Helps Quarry Hill Mark Anniversary

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree A visit by Maine congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-1st District) gave VIP flair to Quarry Hill's seventh anniversary celebration, held June 13 at the Camden retirement community.

Rep. Pingree toured the community's short- and long-term nursing care center and apartment-style residences and mingled with the crowd of more than 100 residents and other attendees.

In keeping with the event's 1940s theme, the Lincolnville Band kept up a stream of big-band tunes, while Quarry Hill staff members served Coca Cola, cold cuts, and other refreshments reminiscent of the war years.

Some visitors used the occasion to get an inside look at available apartments and cottage homes; three won raffle items, including a big-band CD collection, a set of World War II movies on DVD, and an old-fashioned soda fountain straw dispenser loaded with '40s-era candies.
