Pen Bay Healthcare Cancels Flu Shot Clinic at Health Fair

Lack of seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccine has required the cancellation of the flu shot clinic scheduled for Nov. 7 at the annual Pen Bay Healthcare Community Health and Safety Fair.

The Health Fair will go on as usual, from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. at Rockland District High School and will feature health education and information from around the community from more than 50 displays.

The Health Fair also will include a special influenza education panel discussion and question & answer session. Pen Bay flu experts, including the chief infectious disease specialist at PBMC and a representative of the Maine CDC will be participating. The panels are scheduled for 10 a.m. and noon and will leave plenty of time for questions and answers.

Scheduled participants include Cheryl Liechty, MPH, MD, infectious disease specialist at Penobscot Bay Medical Center; Anne Little, RN, CIS, Infection Preventionist for PBH; Jennifer Gunderman-King, MPH, Midcoast District Public Health Liaison, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
