Summer Time Fun with Food for Life Cooking Classes
July 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm| $80
Do you like to cook? Are you interested in learning about how the foods you eat affect your health? Join chef and Food For Life cooking instructor MiMi McGee for a series of weekly nutrition and cooking classes at the Picker Family Resource Center. The four-week class series will be held on Wednesdays from 6 – 8 p.m., July 9, 16, 23 and 30.
National Cancer Institute research shows that as much as 50 percent of cancer risk may be related to diet. Certain diet patterns seem to have a major effect in helping people diagnosed with cancer to live longer, healthier lives; according to numerous studies, a diet built from plant foods offers the most cancer-fighting protection of any diet plan. The Food For Life cooking series provides information about the link between diet and cancer, the benefits of plant-based nutrition and the practical cooking skills needed to help you on your journey to better health. All of the classes include a cooking demonstration and tasting of delicious, healthy dishes.
There is an $80 fee per person for the four-class series; scholarships are available. Register at pickercenterjuly2014.eventbrite.com or by calling McGee at 912-230-2829.
